1 team per region per age group

 

Format:

Tournament game structure will follow ALA Regulation 28.

  • Schedule:
    • Maximum games allowed per team and/or player in a single day is three (3).
    • Teams cannot be scheduled for more than three (3) games in any given day and need to have at least a 2-hour break between each scheduled game.

Events and Age Groups:

Age as of December 31st of current year

U9 - 7 to 8 years old (born in 2016 & 2017)

U11 - 9 to 10 years old (born in 2014 & 2015)

U13 - 11 to 12 years old (born in 2012 & 2013)

 

All age groups may have a maximum of 18 runners and 2 goalies

 

Rules and Regulations:

  1. All teams MUST meet the requirements as set out in all ALA Regulations and Bylaws
  2. Each team is responsible for the conduct of its players, coaches, families and fans both inside and outside the arenas
  3. Mercy Rule: If a goal differential of six (6) or more goals is present at any time during the game, at the next whistle to start play the clock will run at straight time. If the goal differential is brought within four (4) goals, the clock shall return to stop time.
  1. Overtime:
    • In Round Robin there will be a maximum of 2 five (5) minute sudden victory periods until a goal is scored. There will be one (1) minute rest period between each five minute period.
    • In Medal games only as per Lacrosse Canada Rule 20: Exception to be made relative to rest time between periods which will be five (5) minutes.
  2. Tie-Breaker:
    • In the event of a tie in point standing in a competition, final standings shall be determined as follows:
      • If two teams are tied, the winner of the game or games between the two teams advances. If a tie still exists, the goal average formula below will be used.
      • If three or more teams are tied, and if one team has defeated the other teams with which it is tied after round robin play, that winning team shall advance.
    • GOALS AVERAGE FORMULA: The team with the highest ratio advances:
      • In games between the tied teams; or if necessary
      • In games between each other plus common opponents; or if necessary
      • Goals for and against in all games played by the tied teams;
        GOALS FOR / GOALS FOR + GOALS AGAINST
  1. Game sheets shall be collected by the HOME team from the facility tournament table 30 minutes prior to game. The WINNING team is to return the white game sheet to the floor manager immediately after the game (winning team keeps yellow copy; losing team gets pink copy.) Scores will NOT be entered for either team until the white copy is returned.
  2. DISCIPLINE: ALA Regulation 12 will be followed regarding discipline and suspension.
  3. PROTESTS: All referee decisions will be final on the floor.
  4. The Southern Alberta Summer Games has a Zero Tolerance Harassment Policy. If a competitor, coach, parent, or spectator is abusive in any way towards officials, other competitors or volunteers, they will immediately be ejected from competition.
  5. HAVE FUN! It is the most important rule of all! We are committed to the growth of the game of lacrosse and that starts with having fun!

 

Registration Deadline:

Registration Deadline as designated by your Regional Director

All registrations are done through your Regional Director, who will determine the Regional Deadline. The registration fee must also be submitted to your Regional Director. Signed consent forms must accompany the waivers.  

No late registrations will be accepted.

Events will be cancelled if there are less than three teams registered.  Should any event be cancelled due to lack of registrations, the athletes being affected by the cancellation will be given an opportunity to re-register in another suitable category provided that event is scheduled to run.
