Competition: Pickleball

Location:          Burdett Ice Arena (1st Ave West, Burdett)

 

Time:              Check In: 7:30am       Start Time: 8:00am

 

Schedule:

  • Schedule may be adjusted day of event for no-shows and cancellations
  • All participants must be present at least 45 minutes prior to the start of your event. All start times are subject to change.

 

Events and Age Groups: All ages as of December 31st of current year.

2 teams, per region, per age group, per skill level

  • Youth:
    • Categories: boy’s doubles, girl’s doubles, and co-ed doubles
    • Skill Level: one combined
    • Age Brackets: Under 15 (Age is the age you will become on December 31st, 2026)
  • Adults:
    • Categories: men’s doubles, women’s doubles, and mixed doubles
    • Skill Level: under 3.5 and 3.5 + above
    • Age Brackets: 16+ (Age is the age you will become on December 31st, 2026)
  • Team-based entry - Registration is considered complete when both players have registered and paid the tournament fees.
  • Teams must play at the skill level of the highest rated partner and in the age category of the youngest player.
  • Categories may be merged or split by age based on event registration numbers.

 

 

Format:

  • Events will be double elimination with each match being best 2 out of 3 games to 11 (win by 1) on the “A” side of the draw. On the “B” side of the draw, each match will consist of one game to 15 (win by 1)
  • Smaller brackets (6 or fewer teams) will use Round Robin format, one game to 15 (win by 1), top 4 teams will play for medal
  • Junior division will be Round Robin format, one game to 15 (win by 1), top 4 teams will play for medal
  • Each team is guaranteed a minimum of two matches

Rules and Regulations:

  1. Play will be governed by the rules set by the USPA, 2025 Official Pickleball Rulebook
  2. All participants must be present at least 60 minutes prior to the tournament starting time indicated on the schedule.
  3. Every athlete must be able to produce appropriate identification at all times.
  4. Courts are indoors on an arena floor; please wear appropriate footwear. Hybrid Indoor balls will be used.
  5. Players must supply their own paddles, non-marking shoes, and appropriate clothing.
  6. Players will be responsible for line calls. Rounds will be refereed pending referee availability.  A tournament director will be on call to address rule disputes.  The tournament director’s decision is final.
  7. Medals will be awarded for Gold, Silver, and Bronze at the conclusion of each event.
  8. The Southern Alberta Summer Games has a Zero Tolerance Harassment Policy. If a competitor, coach, parent, or spectator is abusive in any way towards officials, other competitors, or volunteers, they will immediately be ejected from competition.

 

 

Registration Deadline as designated by your Regional Director

 

All registrations are done through your Regional Director, who will determine the Regional Deadline.  The registration fee must also be submitted to your Regional Director. Signed consent forms must accompany the waivers.

 

No late registrations will be accepted.

 

Events will be cancelled if there are one or less individuals or teams registered.  Should any event be cancelled due to lack of registrations, the athletes being affected by the cancellation will be given an opportunity to re-register in another suitable category provided that event is scheduled to run
